From Footprints to Futures. We Walk and Learn as One.
Hi, I’m Angie RECE, FNP
As a proud Métis Registered Early Childhood Educator and certified Forest & Nature Practitioner, I offer professional learning services that enhance and enrich cultural understanding in early years and elementary education. With a deep commitment to integrating Métis knowledge and perspectives, I create meaningful learning experiences that foster inclusivity, respect for diversity, and cultural awareness for educational professionals across Ontario’s educational landscape. Empowering educators to connect with Métis culture and enrich child and family care through culturally responsive learning experiences is at the heart of my work. My goal is to equip educators with practical tools and insights to embed these responsive practices - supporting the holistic development of children, their communities, and especially Métis families.
Educational Philosophy & Values
I believe children flourish when their learning is grounded in the land. By weaving land‑based experiences into the classroom, we nurture respect for nature, honour diverse cultures, and foster a genuine sense of belonging. My work centers on equipping educators with warm, relationship‑focused strategies that blend nature connection with culturally responsive practice—so every child, family, and community can grow in ways that reflect our shared bond with the natural world.
At Métis Legacy Learning, everything begins with respect - for the land, for community, and for one another. I strive to create learning spaces that are inclusive, vibrant, and alive with curiosity, where children discover and grow through a close relationship with nature. Kindness sits at the heart of every partnership and decision, inspiring educators to cultivate compassionate, culturally rich environments. Guided by these values, I empower teachers to weave land‑based practices into their work, nurturing holistic development and deep, meaningful connections between children, their families, and the world around them.
Our Story
Ontario Métis Facts
Discover the real stories and truths that define Métis people and communities across Ontario.
Who is the MNO?
Established in 1993, the Métis Nation of Ontario is the official self‑governing body for Métis people in the province—steadfast in protecting their rights and fostering strong, connected communities.
Who is Louis Riel?
Louis Riel's tireless efforts in the mid to late 1800s were rooted in justice, working to protect and recognize Métis people in Canada. On November 16th, we come together to honour Louis Riel's enduring legacy and his deep commitment to Métis history, education, and identity - values that continue to guide and inspire our community today.

Angie’s visit to our school was a truly inspiring and enriching experience. She created such a warm and welcoming space, allowing us to engage in open, meaningful conversations and deepen our understanding of Métis culture. One of the special parts of her visit was the hands-on learning she shared with us. Through dot art kits and finger weaving materials, she provided us with beautiful, tangible ways to bring these traditions into our classrooms. These resources will help us continue this important learning and ensure meaningful representation for our students. We are so grateful for Angie’s time, thoughtfulness, and generosity in sharing her knowledge and experiences. Her visit left a lasting impact, and we are excited to carry this learning forward in our schools.

Earlier this year, we had the opportunity to work with Angie Coture as part of a grant we received at our school. The experience supported cultural learning and engagement in our school and neighbouring schools, and this kit would be a wonderful extension of that work. It would be a fantastic way to continue enriching our students understanding of Métis culture and heritage - Angie is just fabulous and so passionate about what she does.
